In 1986, David Torrellas—mountain biking enthusiast and visionary—discovered his love for the sport. Fueled by his passion and an eye for market needs, he envisioned a space where quality, innovation, and service could meet the demands of the local cycling community.
In 1988, Bike Stop opened its doors with a simple mission: to elevate the cycling experience in Puerto Rico.

As mountain biking gained momentum, competition surged. At one point, Bike Stop stood alongside 10 other shops within just 15 miles. But through resilience, commitment to excellence, and a deep understanding of the cycling culture, Bike Stop endured—emerging stronger and more focused than ever.
In 1996, Bike Stop entered a bold new phase
—wholesale distribution. This leap of faith soon bore fruit with the acquisition of the Specialized brand. With this iconic partnership came access to cutting edge bicycles, accessories, and apparel, as well as invaluable support in marketing, education, and beyond.
Later, in 2008, the exclusive distribution of FOX Suspension solidified our leadership. As the official FOX Service Center in Puerto Rico, we introduced specialized technical workshops that raised the standard across local shops island-wide.
